From Incheon airport to London ! The start of the vision trip!

From Incheon Airport to London Heathrow!

May 8th 2013

Today is the day! WOOHOO! All of the 18th wavers are flying off to Europe on our “Vision Trip”! We’ve been waiting for so long! It has been three months already since we entered KMLA. I am sure that all of the 18th wavers have gone through several hardships, leaving home and starting at a new school. I feel that I am now a KMLA student for real. We were challenged with tough classes, painstaking quizzes, and mid-term exams, and we are now being rewarded with the opportunity to see the world!
I woke up at 6:30 am in the morning after barely being able to fall asleep a few hours before. The day seemed it would never come is now here! Since I didn’t have a lot of time to spare, I took a quick shower and checked if I missed anything in my bags. But, of course, there is a tiny problem. Like I said on my last post, I broke a ligament in my knee while playing basketball a month ago. I had to have surgery, and I just got rid of the cast on my knee yesterday. Although I’ve been recovering and I can now walk with some kind of knee-supporting brace, when it came time to leave, I decided it’d be best to bring crutches - well one side - to aid myself in walking around the cities of Europe.
The problem was – I had left them at Chungmu-Gwan which seemed like miles away from the dormitory with my injured leg. I knew I didn’t have enough time and reached out to my teachers who informed me there were some in the Sagam’s Room. When I got there, the door was locked. I felt a bit of panic. Without the crutch, I was certain that I would have very difficult time while others would enjoy the trip. But I found Mr. Kim, Sagam at last and he saved the day by locating one for me by looking in every dorm room. I was so thankful. During the semester, Mr. Kim was very strict and cold. He took away my laptop for listening to music through YouTube, and he gave me a lot of penalty points for small things, but today, I realized how warm-hearted and caring he was.
Finally, after arriving at the airport and going through the crazies of check-in and security, I found myself buckled up and sitting on the plane. During the flight, I watched a movie that my sisters kept talking about and recommending, Les Miserables. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables takes place during the revolutions of the nineteenth century in Paris, where I will be in three days after London. It is about the salvation of the main character, Jean Valjean, who lived his life as slave for stealing a loaf of bread. Jean Valjean’s life is changed completely by a benevolent priest who takes him in and gives him a fresh start in life. Jean Valjean hides his identity and works hard to become rich. He does good deeds to help others for the rest of his life and takes in a little girl, Cosette, as his daughter. He even saves the life of a policeman named Javier who had chased after him. It was a wonderful film with great acting AND singing by Hugh Jackman who had to workout his body with chains. I didn't realize how other musical movies were so bad because they were lipsyncing, but Les Miserables had all actors singing live while acting. I will talk about it more in next post. Yeah!! Now I’ve arrived in London!! Here we go!
